Palin picked as McCain running mate, daughter is pregnant
Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, was recently chosen as McCain’s running mate for the vice presidency. This is widely believed to be a move to appeal to both disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters, and the main conservative base that is the core constituency of the Republican Party, who have been somewhat dubious of McCain. However, Palin’s daughter, Bristol, age 17, is five months pregnant. “Life happens”, says McCain advisor Steve Schmidt, in response to the announcement. The McCain campaign is hoping that the fact that Bristol will marry the boy who impregnated her, and she, being a staunch abortion opponent, will carry the child to full term. In a respite from partisanship, Democratic candidate Barack Obama has said that “People’s families’ are off limits, and people’s children are especially off limits”. Joe Biden, Obama’s running mate, has issued similar statements. Also, for the Alaska probe, a Republican-dominated state legislature is investigating whether or not Palin dismissed public safety commissioner Walt Monegan because he refused to fire her sister’s ex-husband. Palin's claim is that Monegan intimidated her. Monegan has repeatedly denied such claims, however this claim did rate a "Mostly True" on the Truth-O-Meter run by Politifact, an independent organization. Now, since Palin has been picked for the vice presidency, 5 Republicans in the Alaska House of Representitives are suing to stop this investigation, despite a unanimous bipartisan vote to go forth with it. Overall, Sarah Palin is a very interesting vice presidential choice who could really affect the outcome of this election.

Is DSTP Testing Necessary? DSTP testing was created in the spring of 1998 by The Department of Education and Harcourt Brace Educational Measurement. DSTP is designed to serve as a measure of progress toward Delaware standards. It also insures that students can apply their academic skills to realistic everyday problems. DSTP is necessary because it gives your teacher an idea of where you are in your learning stages. This makes it easier for the teachers because it tells them what you still need to learn and what you already know. Even though DSTP testing maybe hard and stressful to some people, it will help you in the future. Some helpful tips for DSTP is to stay calm and try to do your best. It is also important that you get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast. It is important to eat breakfast because it helps your brain. It is important to get a good night sleep because if you don’t you'll be prone to falling asleep during the test.
OK, this is Isaiahs article for news. edited by everyone and ready for u
As everyone knows there is now assigned seating at lunch, also including the mornings when we must go to the cafeteria until we are dismissed to our homerooms. It hasn't gotten as bad as to where we would have to sit according to our actual names, in alphabetical order. We just have to sit at alphabetical tables. Just for an example: lets say, table 1: it would be all the last names that start with the letter "A" or "B". Those people would have to sit at that certain table and not switch to go to a different table. I feel that this new rule is absolutley ridiculous, and many other students agree with me. The teachers and staff think that this is a good thing because they think that if the students sit with who they want to, that it will create much more noise and if they have to sit where they are assigned, they may not always be with the people who they easily get along with. But the truth is, if some people dont sit with their friends and get assigned a table whom everyone does not like each other nor gets along; god knows that's not going to end up well. That by itself will make much, much more noise. So their plan would be ruined in that case. Yes, you can choose to sit whereever you want at that table which means you don't have to sit with the person/persons you do not like. But, if the whole table is people that you don't get along with, what are you going to do? This may cause a fight, or bickering and could probably get pretty loud if they were mad enough at each other.
Students are NOT happy with this new seating arrangement. I, being one of them. I truly think that seating people like this is pointless, and ridiculous. There should be a time at least once during the day where students should be able to actually sit where they want to, with their friends. Yes, you can visit all your friends in the courtyard. But what if you want to sit with a friend that is in none of your classes at lunch, and hang out with different people in the courtyard? Plus, we don't get much time in the courtyard anyhow. I really feel that there is no point in it, and that they should let students sit where they want to. I understand them wanting most students to stay seated, and stay at the table they picked. If the student picked where they wanted to sit in the beginning there wouldn't probably be much of that happening. I think the teachers and staff need to take that into consideration as well.
"ATTENTION: All 7th & 8th grade students at cab should wear black clothing, with any color bandana, and war paint! To rebel the new seating!" - and that is the text message that is going around. The 8th grade has already tried it once, and now they want the 7th grade in on it. That is just how upset the students are about this. Not that I blame them. It is a very unfair rule. What they are doing isn't exactly working too well, but hey; at least they are trying something to get the teachers attention to the matter. I, myself, didn't do that. But most did. I thought it was pretty silly, and pointless to do because the teachers and staff don't care. I'm pretty sure they want to keep it this way for a while. It is going to be hard to convince them otherwise. So basically, I feel that the new seating in the cafeteria is unfair and not right. I really dislike it, and hopefully the rule will soon be changed.
JESSICA FOGAL'S: SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER
There’s a new show on ABC Family called The Secret Life of the American Teenager. It’s personally my favorite show. It’s about a girl who’s pregnant and she struggles to survive the normal teenage life. After all she is only 15. I always keep up with it, every Tuesday at 8! I take over the TV. One night while turning this on my parents came into the room. I didn’t have a problem with that, it's not like I was hiding it from them. It’s just a show. My mom and dad did have an issue. They thought it was inappropriate. I know the plot is about a young pregnant girl, but honestly things like that happen. It's just life. It’s not like when I watch that show I’m going to do the same thing as the girl. I think it's teaching girls what could happen to your life. Therefore I think it’s the opposite of inappropriate. I’m sure some people don’t agree with me, but then again some people will agree. No matter what, this is what I think, it’s my opinion.
**Awesome job! That was a great article. I only had to edit a few grammatical errors. I agree, I watched it with my mom and we enjoyed and discussed it. I'm gonna go send it to Reilly now.
We're almost out of fuel! Global Warming isn’t THAT bad! Battery powered cars are the way to go! That is what the government is telling us. Did you know we really aren’t running out of fuel at all? Actually we're only running out of CHEAP fuel. Coal right now is 10x cheaper than gasoline today. But You have to take the coal and convert it into gasoline. For the same amount of power gasoline gives you, once converted, coal can give you the same amount of power. It will just be a little more expensive. When [or if…] we switch to coal it can last us for many century’s to come. The reason we are still importing fuel is because, one, it costs less money [only a little bit less] and two, because we still haven’t built the plants to convert coal to gas. Germany and South Africa already have these plants and they are using them. From the point of view of physics everytyhing makes a lot more sense. For some reason the government does not want us to know these things. Another thing the government is saying is that global warming isn’t that bad and we don’t really need to worry. They are WRONG! Global Warming is here now. We must stop it now. If we continue waiting too long then it will become irreversible. It's like a hole in a pair of jeans. It starts out small and if you don’t patch it up as soon as it starts, over time that hole will be so big that the bottom of your jeans tear off! It’s the same with global warming! One of the ways we can stop global warming is to conserve. Conserving fuel and things like that will not only keep costs down, but it will also make less pollution which will start stoping global warming. But not only one person can make the difference. We all have to. If we all do what we can, we can stop global warming now. Has global warming already started to damage the earth? Yes, the Earth is getting hotter. Global warming is not something that just started happening a few years ago. Back in Pompeii When the volcano erupted that also was contributing to global warming. But only now have we realized that global warming is very serious. The government doesn’t want to have to put there money into it, but to rather fuel the war. Another dilemma is battery powered cars and hybrids. Yes, they do help the environment but it costs way more money per mile over gas. It costs so much to replace the batterys and they can only last about to 1000 charges! Also the disposal and creation is not good either. The batteries are laced with dangerous chemicals and need to be disposed of specially. But solar cars with only one square mile of sunlight it will peak as much power as a nuclear power plant! I really think that we all need to to understand this as the people. So we can make better decisions in voting and deciding what to do for economy and how to not pollute. Everyone should know and understand this. This is real, it is now, and it needs to be stopped!

JESSIKA G.: i THINK THAT 6, 7 AND 8TH GRADE SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN SPORTS
I think that grades 6, 7, and 8 (the whole middle school) should have their own sports, while grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 (the whole high school) have their own sports. I think that would be more fair because, here at Cab, the sports don’t start until 8th grade and that’s not fair because the kids in 6th and 7th come to a real middle and high school to be treated like real middle and high schoolers. I think that the dean didn’t let 6th and 7th graders do sports because a lot of older high schoolers like to do sports and they might hurt or injure the other students. A lot of kids like to do sports, and a lot of them want to be famous athletes when they grow up so they want more practice and they can only achieve that with the practice they need. Me and a lot of other students agree that middle school and high school should have their own different, separate sports.
**I think this article is good except that Cab is an arts school which is why there is no athletics. But, whatever. I edited it anyway.
Every time I enter Mr. Edward’s Algebra class, I enter the world of frequent variation as we move on to each lesson day by day. The way he talks is quick, rapid, and unstoppable! The rhythm, and chime of his voice will not allow you to put your head down in his class. That’s why I enjoy algebra. He has a certain touch of attention everytime we enter, sit, or leave. What I’m leading up to is algebra is enhancing, and enjoyable. Why? Well, the way Mr. Edwards interprets lessons has a certain vibe of creativity, and ensures an understanding to me even though he says things lightning quick.

Again, love the artical, very to the point. The sentence that you added 'The McCain campaign is hoping that the fact that Bristol will marry the boy who impregnated her, and she, being a staunch abortion opponent, will carry the child to full term, will appeal to the social conservative base.' is a bit of a run-on. I really like the addition, but I just broke it up:
'The McCain campaign is hoping that the fact that Bristol will marry the boy who impregnated her, and that she will carry the child to full term, will appeal to the social conservative base.'
I don't think you needed this part: '...and she, being a staunch abortion opponent...' but you can add it if you make it a new sentence and make it flow.
This is widely believed to be a move to appeal to both disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters, and the main conservative base that is the core constituency of the Republican Party, who have been somewhat dubious of McCain.
That's a bit of a run on sentence, so I did this:
This is widely believed to be a move to appeal to both disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters. The main conservative base that is the core constituency of the Republican Party, who have been somewhat dubious of McCain.

**ok, this is gretas book review article. sorry, i though had all the articles but so far this is the last one.
“I will never say that when I grow up.” How many times have you said this to yourself? Do you roll your eyes? Do you give a sigh of resignation? Or do you simply plaster a smile on your face in a wait of what you are sure you have already heard a million and one times? When your parents sit you down, and start the sentence with, “You don’t know how easy you have it, when I was a kid…”, take a minute to listen. Because they aren’t wrong. Let’s face it. Have you ever turned on the TV manually? I mean, when the remote wasn’t lost underneath the couch cushion. And even then you run around the entire house searching for it, instead of crossing the room and changing the channel. I know what you’re thinking: If I don’t find it now, I’ll be without a remote forever! So I’ll admit it: Yes, having a remote control is much easier than getting up at every commercial.
Google; a multi-million dollar search engine otherwise known as: The Info God. It has every answer to any question, ranging from services, to history, to games, to your science report. So who wants to hop in the car, go to the library, look up whatever subject through the Dewey Decimal System and search through hundreds of pages of hundreds of books. Why, when you have The Info God in your living room? Not me. I don’t even know what the Dewey Decimal System is let alone how to use/see/get it. Thank God for Google.
I think the biggest thing I take for granted, and am just now realizing, is… microwavable popcorn. We stick a package in the microwave, press the popcorn button, and watch as it pops. It’s pre-salted, pre-buttered and effortless. Yeah. No such luck 20 years ago. “When I was a kid… it was different.” start my parents. It wasn’t just about not having a popcorn button on their microwaves. They didn’t have microwaves period. Our parents had to take out a frying pan, put oil in the bottom, and heat it up. Then, they put in Orville Redenbacher’s kernals, put the lid on, and shook the pan. A lot. Plus, there was no such thing as pre-salted and pre-buttered. It was all manual. We have life easier in many ways, especially in the microwavable popcorn area.
We live in a class of people that have never been without a remote control, never lacking a cellular phone. Our generation has never been without a Seinfeld reference. Schools have always been concerned with multiculturalism and Pepsi and Coke have always used recyclable bottles. There is no attendant asking you “Want me to check under the hood?” Times have changed since your parents were little and they will keep changing. From technology, to clothes, to limits, change will happen. Good, bad, or indifferent.
So do all these changes make our lives easier? What about when your parents say, “When I was a kid, my parents never had to worry about me riding my bike along to the ice cream shop.” In a different respect, life was easier back then. They walked to school, rode their bikes whenever and wherever and, if they stayed out after dark, parents wouldn’t worry. They could be free and have fun without worrying about being kidnapped or hurt. I’m not saying that danger was any less then, but it was definitely underestimated. People say childhood is carefree, but now… it has limits.
Ever heard the saying, “Find a penny, pick it up…”? If older generations saw a penny, you’d bet your allowance they’d pick it up. With a penny, they could buy a piece of candy, and if they saved… they could buy quite a lot more than we could with that amount of money. Now, if we see a penny, great. Save a hundred and you can buy one cheesy plastic ring. The cost of living is just so different; a middle class person today could be a high class person a generation ago. It was definitely easier, in this sense, back then.
This is a time of change, the whole kit and caboodle. Yes, technology, along with other things, is more advanced. Yes, life can be much easier nowadays. But, in other ways, such as the cost of living, or the amount of freedom and worry, life was easier back then. So I say again: Change is happening, and it will keep happening. Our class has CD’s, what will our children have? Microchips? We have cars, they may travel in bubbles. When our parents say “When I was a kid…” I don’t believe they ever thought they would be saying it either. They never thought they’d have remote controls and Google, so they weren’t going to be caught dead saying “When I was a kid…” when they grew up. But they are, and, believe me, we will too.
Eat, Sleep, Swim Repeat By: Madison Hill Have you been watching the Beijing Olympics? Everyone knows about the horses on drugs, to the world’s fastest man with a record breaking 19.35 seconds in the 200 meter dash. But have you been aware that six more records were broken in Beijing? He broke four individual events, one with his relay team, and one with most Olympic gold medals received in one Olympics. Can you guess who that person is? That person is Michael Phelps. Phelps appeared in the past two summer Olympics which was Athens, Greece (2004) and in Sydney, Australia (2000) in which he received six gold medals. In Beijing he received eight gold medals coming to a total of thirteen gold medals in his career. Phelps was born on June 30, 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. Weighing one hundred and ninety-five pounds, twenty-three year old Phelps grew up to be six foot four, with an arm spam of six foot seven which gives him more of an advantage of hitting the wall first. Michael may look like a typical swimmer, but he isn’t. His torso is longer compared to his legs allowing him to stay above the water better. He has flexible ankles, plus size fourteen feet which gives him a powerful kick. He moved out of his home for the first time to go to Michigan College, where he now trains. When Phelps was a kid, he had a hard time focusing in school. His teacher said to his mom that he will never be able to achieve or focus on anything, but that was until Phelps discovered swimming at the age of seven. At the age of twelve, Phelps parents were informed that he could make the 2000 summer Olympic team and also that 2004 and 2008 could be a target also. Coming in to Beijing, Phelps qualified for 200 meter freestyle, 100 and 200 meter butterfly, 200 and 400 meter individual medley, 4x100 and 4x200 meters freestyle relay. Four years ago in the Athens Olympics, Phelps would have gotten eight medals if he participated in the 4x100 medley relay; instead he let one of his teammates get the gold medal. Well, Phelps was in the same situation this year too. So, Phelps teammate, the one who he gave up his position for, gave up his spot on the 4x100 meter relay so Phelps could get his eighth gold medal in Beijing. That was true sportsmanship.
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 Monday Night! By: Brent Hall Possibly the game of the century. Yes, it is only the beginning of the season yet Monday night football is getting more and more amazing. Focusing on Monday night, 9/15/08. Eagles versus Cowboys. The Eagle's started out with the ball. The team charged up the field yard after yard easily but when they reached the red zone a fumble occurred. What was supposed to be a simple screen was caught and with two step progress dropped it. It was tapped by an eagle's player hit it into the hands of the Cowboys defense who tipped the ball with his fingers and diving in for a touchdown with the ball is the eagle's offense. After all of that the referee called him down when he dropped the ball so the eagles had to settle for a measly three points for a field goal. After that Tony Romo threw a 72 yard pass to Terrel Owens for a touchdown and Felix Jones returns a 98 yard kickoff for a touchdown. Also the Eagles score another field goal the score at the end of the first quarter is 6-14. In the second quarter Westbrook gets a short 6 yard pass for a touchdown and Chris Gocong of the Eagles recovers a fumble in the end zone. Then Terell Owens gets a short pass for a touchdown and by the end of the second quarter the score was 30-24 it was starting to look up for the Eagles. In the third quarter Marion Barber gets a 17 yard touchdown pass. Putting the score at 30-31 Cowboys. Just at the beginning of the fourth quarter the eagles get a touchdown and the Cowboys get a field goal putting the score at 37-34 Eagles. But with just 4 minutes on the clock Marion Barber runs in a one yard touchdown for the Cowboys putting the final score at 37-41, a loss for our high-flying Eagles.
Thursday, September 11, 2008 The Rookie Who Had a Chance By: Madison Hill You knew him as number 5 in a blue and yellow jersey. That’s right, that rookie is Joe Flacco. He was on the University of Delaware team. After graduating from college, Flacco was invited to the 2008 NFL Draft. The eighteen year old was pick number eighteen in the first round, by the Baltimore Ravens. On July 16th, he signed for a five year contract with a maximum value of around $30 million and $8.75 million guaranteed. Flacco got his chance to start in the Ravens opening game against Cincinnati Bengals because the Ravens other two quarterbacks, Kyle Boller and Troy Smith were injured. He completed 15 of 29 passes throwing for 129 yards. His longest pass was a fifteen yarder to Derrick Mason. But his shining moment was when Flacco rushed the ball himself for a 38-yard touchdown. Flacco lead the Ravens to a victory over the Bengals which was 17-10. Flacco was rewarded by starting in game number two for the Ravens against the Texans. This will decide if he does well in the Texans game. Will our once hometown college quarterback get his time to shine? Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that he will have a very successful and healthy career.

It costs so much to replace the batteries and they can only last about to 1000 charges! Also the disposal and creation is not good either. The batteries are laced with dangerous chemicals and need to be disposed of specially. But solar cars with only one square mile of sunlight it will peak as much power as a nuclear power plant! I really think that we all need to understand this as the people.

I think that would be fairer because, here at Cab, the sports don’t start until 8th grade and that’s not fair because the kids in 6th and 7th come to a real middle and high school to be treated like real middle and high schoolers.
Every time I enter Mr. Edward’s Algebra class, I enter the world of frequent variation as we move on to each lesson day by day. The way he talks is quick, rapid, and unstoppable! The rhythm and chime of his voice will not allow you to put your head down in his class. That’s why I enjoy algebra. He has a certain touch of attention every time we enter, sit, or leave. What I’m leading up to is algebra is enhancing, and enjoyable. Why? Well, the way Mr. Edwards interprets lessons has a certain vibe of creativity, and ensures an understanding to me even though he says things lightning quick.

Should We Take MAP Testing???? A new form of testing, called MAP was introduced to students in grades 3-5 during the 2005-2006 school years. This year (2006-2007), second grade students will also participate. MAP, or the Measure of Academic Progress, is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.
When will students be tested and how often? During the weeks of Aug. 28-Sept. 22, students will participate in several MAP testing sessions to assess Reading, Math, and Science. When taking the MAP test, the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions become more difficult. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier. Although the tests are not timed, it usually takes students about one hour to complete each test. Students will repeat the tests two more times during the year, usually winter and spring semesters, to continually assess student progress and adapt learning as needed.
NINAS At about 3 in the afternoon on August 27th, a 17 year old girl, whose name is withheld, was on her way to a Delaware high school. She was a new driver who was following the speed limit. A driver behind her was tailgating her, and got angry because she refused to go faster. After a couple of miles, she pulled over to let him by. But the driver was not satisfied. He then pulled over in front of her car and got out. She put the window down about 5 inches so that she could speak to him and tries to understand what the problem was. Although she didn’t see, he had a knife with him. He told her that she tried to kill him, which was not the case. He then demanded the car keys, and when the girl refused, he punched her in the face. After that, he pulled out his knife, showed it to her, and then held it to her throat. Right before he went back to his car, he reached for the keys in the ignition and ripped them out. Witnesses tried to chase him, and by then another truck pulled up behind the girl. The witnesses called the police. They are still investigating now.
JON T Palin Picked as McCain's Running Mate and Daughter is Pregnant!
Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, was recently chosen as McCain’s running mate for the vice presidency. This is widely believed to be a move to appeal to both disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters and the main conservative base of the Republican Party, who have been somewhat dubious of McCain. However, Palin’s daughter, Bristol, age 17, is five months pregnant. “Life happens”, says McCain advisor Steve Schmidt, in response to the announcement. The McCain campaign is hoping that the fact that Bristol will marry the boy who impregnated her, and will carry the child to full term will appeal to the social conservative base. In a respite from partisanship, Democratic candidate Barack Obama has said that “People’s families’ are off limits, and people’s children are especially off limits”. Joe Biden, Obama’s running mate, has issued similar statements. Also, for the Alaska probe, a Republican-dominated state, legislature is investigating whether or not Palin dismissed public safety commissioner Walt Monegan because he refused to fire her sister’s ex-husband. Palin's claim is that Monegan intimidated her. Monegan has repeatedly denied such claims; however this claim did rate a "Mostly True" on the Truth-O-Meter run by Politifact, an independent organization. Now, since Palin has been picked for the vice presidency, five Republicans in the Alaska House of Representatives are suing to stop this investigation, despite a unanimous bipartisan vote to go forth with it.

DSTP is necessary because it gives your teacher an idea of where you are in your learning. This makes it easier for the teachers because it tells them what you still need to learn and what you already know. Even though DSTP testing may be hard and stressful to some people, it will help you in the future. Some helpful tips for DSTP is to stay calm and try to do your best. It is also important that you get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast. Eat a good breakfast because it helps your brain. It is important to get a good night sleep because if you don't you'll most likely fall asleep during the test.
PHILIP Pictures without a Camera
Stephen Wiltshire, a not-so-normal person in London is, well, not so normal, of course. He is a college student, majoring in visual art. Not only is his art spectacular, but his memory is photographic. His art is sights he’s seen, everyday things that he liked. He plays piano and you would think he’d be great, knowing that his memory is incredible, but if he messes up on one thing, it’s impossible to fix. When the media found out about his photographic memory, they wanted proof. So they took him on a 15-minute helicopter ride around London. When he got back, he was told to draw what he saw on the ride. He received a very large piece of paper, and started to draw. When he finished, the media wanted to see that he didn’t just draw buildings and houses. So, they resolved the problem by calling in random people to find there houses on the drawing. All of the people found their houses and apartments and said they look almost exactly the same. Stephen was asked to draw other cities, such as Rome and Tokyo, which he did. “It’s autism,” people say. “It’s not natural.” Stephen does have signs of autism; eating the exact same lunch every single day is not really normal but, who cares? After Stephen did the tasks the media asked, they made it into a program called “The Human Camera” and he still makes art today.

BREAKING NEWS!!! WHALE ANCESTOR FOUND!!!
At last! Finally we now know were whales come from. These creatures are believed to be the last amphibious evolutionary link to whales!!! Recent discoveries prove that whales were once odd looking rodents!!! Who would have ever guessed that they were related? In recent fossil finds prove the evolutionary similarities between the two. It has long been perceived that the closest relative was the hippo, until now. Still, some researchers have been troubled that hippos seem to have lived in the wrong part of the world and popped up too recently to be a whale ancestor. Whales were not always like the modern day ones, but more of a pig or dog with fins (much bigger of course!!!). This newly discovered creature is called “Indohyus”. Further testing is needed to support other hypotheses.

Injuries are just something you accept when you play football but exactley what kind of injuries are you accepting? Willie Parker is injured with a strained left knee and will not return until week 7. After an injury Rashard Mendenhall the second string Half Back was put into the game. Only halfway into the Game He was struck HARD and that hit put him on the bench with a fractured left shoulder putting him on injured reserve. Brian Westbrook, Westbrook started with a normal ankle injurie due to a hit by the steelers rough and tough defense. But later in the season against the Redskins, Westbrook was hit so hard that he fractured two ribs and with the Eagles Week 7 bye they'll probably leave him out for two weeks and possibly a gametime desicion on week 8. Carson Palmer QB for the Cincinnati Bengals is hurting with a right elbow injury but played on sundays game against the cowboys and suprisingly made out with 23 out of 39 passes with a total of 217 reception yards. Anquan Boldin Wide Reciever for the cardinals is out with a head injury or *Fractured Sinus Membrane* And is getting a couple stiches on his lips the amazing part though is how he was knocked UNCONSCIOUS on the feild and undergoed a small surgery. Last but not least Gus Frerotte got two stiches on his non throwing hand and simply said himself "I think one of those hard-plastic things cut open a blood vessel in my hand," But he's back to his normal self once again saying himself "its good, its fine" and throwing 19 passes for 222 yards. Thats whats up in the sports world
ED/JON L. ''Hi YouTube! my name is Kiki and today I'm going to show you how to cheat on a test -- the effective way.” A teenage girl called ''Kiki'', if that is her real name, has discussed a new way to cheat on a test! This is not ethical at all to my opinion! She demonstrates her technique, slipping a small piece of paper with the answers in a clear-tubed pen as she rationalizes her reasons for cheating. "I know it's not a good thing to cheat," she said. "It's academic dishonesty, blah, blah, blah. But I think everyone has at least done it once." Kiki's video is one of several dozen on the popular internet site, YouTube, that show detailed ways to cheat on tests. Students no longer conceal answers in the sole of a shoe or the underside of a baseball cap's bill. In the age of continual access to the internet and laser-precision printers, cheating has gone high-tech. And some techniques, like Kiki's, come with a guarantee. "This is 98 percent effective," she said. "Hopefully, any of my teachers don't see this video. It would be very awkward." Elizabeth Losh, writing director of the human core course at University of California, Irvine, knows the cheating videos well. As a teacher of digital rhetoric, she analyzes how media affects society. The YouTube videos are really a way for people to boast, she said. "It's a whole kind of tradition on YouTube -- how do you subvert something, how do you break into something," she said. "In some ways, I'm not surprised that the genre has evolved." Some of the modern cheating techniques are so time-consuming that students would be better off simply studying, Losh said. "I can laugh about the inventiveness, but it's sad more than anything else." she said. Another way that she discussed was a website to go to in order to help hide your answers. It was said that a common way kids cheat on their test was by printing the answers of the quiz/test on false soda bottles. This is all I know so far and when I receive more information about this I will rewrite this as long as it isn't giving any private information or if it's telling which website to go to.
ED/ JON L. 2006 Midterm elections held in America proved to be a bloody nose for the Republican Party. On November 6th, 2006, the Republican Party held a majority in both the House and Senate. By November 8th, the Democrats had a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. With two years left for his presidency, George W. Bush will have to work with a Democrat Congress. Political pundits have already labeled the president a ‘lame duck’ though in the past a president from one party has worked with a Congress controlled by the other party. The day following the results, President Bush stated that he would work with Ms. Nancy Pelosi, the new Speaker of the House, to ensure that legislation was not halted. Bush claimed that both could work with the other. Prior to the midterms, the Republicans had a healthy majority of 30 in the House. After the November elections, the Democrats had a majority of 32 – with the Republicans winning 196 seats and the Democrats 228. In the Senate, the Republicans at the last round of elections in November 2004 had 55 Senators while the Democrats had 44. After the November 2006 midterms the Democrats had 49 Senators – the same as the Republicans. However with 2 Independent Senators expected to support the Democrats, the Republican ascendancy in the Senate appears to be over. One of the Independents is Senator Joseph Lieberman – a former Democrat Vice-Presidential running mate of Al Gore in 2000. It is generally assumed that he will go with the Democrat flow.
PHILIP Cars could soon come with parental controls that limit what younger drivers can do with a car. Developed by Ford, the “MyKey” system limits a car's top speed, how loud its stereo can be, and sounds warnings if seatbelts are not being worn. So to get things straight, the cars can have adjustable limits.
Ford will introduce the controls on some US makes of car that are due to first show up in 2009 but go on sale in 2010. The Ford Focus will be the first to have MyKey, but the car maker said it would become a standard feature. The main element of the MyKey system is to limit the top speed of a car to 80mph. Ford says other options allow parents to limit the volume on the car stereo and make the car sound a continuous alert if drivers and passengers are not wearing a seatbelt. Other options will let parents decide if warning tones should sound if a car goes faster than 45, 55 or 65 mph. Another feature is that you can make the car require a drivers license of some type, like your own or your childs. "It’s making use of existing technology, and through the magic of software, we're able to build features on top of the features we already have," said Jim Buczkowski, Ford's director of electronic and electrical systems engineering. Ford's compact version of the Focus, which is due to go on sale in 2010, will be the first to sport MyKey. But a spokesman said it would spread to all cars in the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury range as models are updated. "Research we've done has shown that speeding is a major factor in teen crashes, especially novice teen drivers," Anne McCartt, senior vice president for research at the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, told the AP news agency. Those are the news articles I have so far.

ARSENIC IN WATER MAY CAUSE DIABETES Recent studys show that levels of arsenic have been found in water, and contain type two diabetes. Arsenic is a poisiness eleent that smells like almonds. In another recent study of seven hundred andsevendy seven adults shows increased chances of having diabetes, just from drinking local water supplies. It probably disolved into the water from high poluting. Some are trying to prevent this from happining by filtrating tainted water supplies as much as possible. Sea dwellers such as fish also have increased nontoxic organic arsenic, probably by swimming in the water. It is possible that people with diabetes excrete more arsnic. The U.S.A. has even lowered arsenic in public water systems for belife of it being a couse of cancer.

Black; everything
Going to or having a Party; Laid back; light blue jeans && a nice bright shirt with matching or going together shoes.

Alright then I think that two colors on top of each for ex. Pink on pink [pink shirt and pink pants] are not that appealing just except for the color black and gray. Other than those two everything else is hard to find an exact match. If you like two colors make them match. Neon colors look nice with a normal dark color. Some colors need to be in a pattern. Make sure you have the same amount of each color or pretty close. YOU MUST be careful when trying to wear more then 3 colors. Only one neon color all of the other colors must be normal. Of course black and white go with everything so don’t be plain! Give it some SPICE. Personally I love light colored jeans. They look brilliant with everything. Imagine This: Heath Ledger with an RPG.* that’s what The Dark Knight is all about. If you don't know what the Dark Knight is, chances are you are not human. The Dark Knight is one of the best movies ever seen by human eyes, and it is today’s review. The Dark Knight had an amazing cast, including Heath Ledger (R.I.P), Christian Bale, and Morgan Freeman. It grossed more money in 59 days than the blockbuster 'Titanic'. Now a day, anything is possible, using CGI (Computer Generated Images). That's how Harvey Dent became Two Face. Also, it made it possible to have tanker trucks flipping over and bazookas to be used. It's basically the perfect movie. So if you have NOT seen this amazing film, I highly suggest you do. It is beastly. That is all.

Combine perfect music, education, 1970's style filming, and Bruce Brown. Mix it all together, and you get On Any Sunday. It is a motocross movie, made in the 70’s, that tells everything and anything about motocross. Bruce Brown made the documentary, and while he was at it, made history. On Any Sunday is choc full of education. The movie talks about how to get up a 45 degree angle on a 50cc stock bike, you must accelerate 25% half way up. Also, if you are going over 100mph, turn right to go right , over 200mph turn left to go right and back to normal for over 300mph. Also, rounding even the smallest parts will give more aerodynamics. It's just like physics for motorcycles! If you haven’t gotten the idea, yet on every Sunday it’s all about motocross. Bruce Brown, the director and voice over/narrator tells us about each kind of race. There are hundreds of different variations of bikes. Plus, it tells of the hero’s of motorcycle world! This included Mert Lawell, Steve McQueen, and, my personal favorite, Malcolm Smith! Even with all this greatness, the sole reason that this movie is phenomenal is this: The director, Bruce Brown. His experience tops that of the normal 30 year old. His narration tells you that of the facts, with some humor slipped in. The music he picked is near perfection! The angles he chose were amazing including a camera on a motorcycle as the driver weaved through countless people, centimeters near posts and other contestants in the race. On Any Sunday is phenomenal. Its information tells every detail. The motocross it shows is edge-of-the-seat action. The director is a genius. I have never seen a movie that is thoroughly mind blowing, start to finish until I saw On Any Sunday. If you haven’t seen this film, you have not seen perfection!!! Finally Mr. Mayo, Mr. Patton, Mr. Edwards, and many other teachers are finally getting air conditioning. Unfortunately they aren’t done with almost any other classes. They can only do about 3 classes at a time, so it’ll take a while before there completely finished with the entire school. All the classes they do will have to be moved to one of the other temporary classrooms. Now some of the high school kids are sitting in those rooms but not for long! Hopefully they’ll be out in the next five weeks, but until then they’ll have to survive in those horrible rooms. Hopefully well all have nice cool air in most rooms by next year!

Right now every student in the red clay school district has the option to take the bus to school. Starting next year this will be no more. The district has decided that there will be no busses to students in red clay who don’t have their school as a feeder pattern. Cab Calloway School of the Arts and Conrad will not be affected by this new rule because they are 100% choice. But any other school IN the Red Clay district will be. They say this will cut costs but still have not told us how. I think it is crucial for every student to have bus transportation! Some Parents (including mine) both have to go to work when I need to leave to go to school. There work is on one side of town and school is at the other. There is no plausible way for them to take me to school. So I rely on the bus. I am not affected for I go to Cab. But for high school I really don’t have a choice but to stay at cab if this goes through. My neighborhood is right in the center of the red clay district. But my development doesn’t have a feeder pattern for high school. We have to choice for high school! So even though I’m in the red clay district and I go to a Red clay school but because I have to choice for high school means I don’t get transportation? That’s not right. The District is trying to keep this on the DL (down Low) for they know this will cause a “riot” amongst parents. Not only will tons of kids have no transportation look at all the bus drivers! There must be tons that will now be out of work! It isn’t fair to them either! Plus, all the extra cars on the roads is bad for traffic problems, global warming, gas depletion, and could be a financial hardship for families. I think that even though we are 100% choice I think we should start getting the word out. What about all the kids in the neighborhood? Have you ever wanted your kid to go to the same high school you went to? Well that might not happen if you have to choice next school year! We need to get the word out now. If the district is deciding to do this without telling anyone then they must know it’s not right! So let’s give them a riot. There asking for it! There are a lot of meetings and protests and such going on. Try to go to them. Or write a letter to Andrewjeski personally. Tell your brothers your sisters your family and friends. If we all band together we can stop this. I don’t know how ANY tax paying parent could be for this!
JESSICA GALINDO- MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS
I think that grades 6, 7, and 8 (the whole middle school) should have their own sports, while grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 (the whole high school) have their own sports. I think that would be fairer because here at cab, the sports don’t start until 8th grade and that’s not fair because the kids in 6th and 7th come to a real middle and high school to be treated like real middle and high scholars. I think that the dean didn’t let 6th and 7th graders do sports because a lot of older high scholars like to do sports and they might hurt or injure the other students. A lot of kids like to do sports, and a lot of them want to be famous athletes when they grow up so they want more practice and they can only achieve that with the practice they need. I and a lot of other students agree that middle school and high school should have their own different, separate sports.
SHELBY ROBERTS: PARENTAL GUIDANCE REQUIRED PROGRAM
Starting a few months ago, every Friday and Saturday at 5:00pm all cops at the Christiana Mall are going to ask all teenagers who look to be 18 years old, or younger to show their ID. If you are without your ID, and aren’t being chaperoned by a parent, you have to leave the mall. Christiana Mall has joined 54 other malls nationwide putting the policy into effect. This is called the Parental Guidance Required Program; and teenagers are outraged by it. I think this new rule is completely absurd and useless. I know I’m not the only one who feels this though.
Many teenagers are starting petitions online against the new rule, and protesting. Not all teenagers go to the mall to hang out and cause trouble. Some of them actually do just want to go to shop. I feel that it’s one of those situations where all the bad teens pretty much ruined it for the kids that do just want to shop without their parents hovering over them. Some of the teenagers wouldn’t have minded, but the fact they must stay with their parents at all times during the mall made them upset. I know most teenage boys for the fact, wouldn’t want to go shopping with their mom. Tyler O'Neill, 14, said he likes to go to the mall and walk away from his mother. He said: "She goes to the Starbucks and Bath and Body Works, I went to EB Games and Hot Topic. Now I'd have to go with her."
Parents don’t even like this rule. Alex Major, 16, says: "My mom works all day, she comes home and sleeps. When I come home from school I'm loud - I want to stomp up and down the steps, play my games, so she always sent me to the mall. She wasn't happy about it at all." Some parents complain that: “I’m even worried when I leave the mall to get to my car with teenagers hanging around!” Well; news flash: now-a-days its not completely safe anywhere. Someone could easily get killed, or violated by just simply walking through the park on a summer day alone. Sadly, that’s just how the world is today. So that shouldn’t have even been a complaint. And A teenager, or a group of teenagers, aren’t even that threatening really. I mean, if you were walking to your car around 7:00pm when it starts to get dark; id worry more of if a single man or woman would do something to me. Not a group of teenagers, or one or two.
I understand they want to make it a more family environment, but they could do that many other ways then this. Because really: if there are a few teenagers hanging around they aren’t going to mess around with a family walking by. They’re too busy doing what they’re doing to even pay attention. But even if a family wanted to go shopping at lets say, 6:00pm on a Monday there could still be teenagers there with their friends regardless.
My opinion on this: it is completely useless, senseless, and belligerent. I’m going through this too. I can no-longer go to the mall on a Friday night with my friends, or a Saturday afternoon due to the new rule. And personally, I feel that Friday should be a day you should have fun or relax because it’s the last day of school before the weekend. And that may include going to the mall. Or, if it’s a Saturday afternoon and you want to go to the mall with a few of your friends to buy clothes for school or something, you can no longer do that without an adult, which is pretty silly if you ask me. Because like I said before, not all teenagers go to the mall to cause trouble.

As you know, the elections are coming up and the big fuss right now is on the political “issues” and decisions. People all over are hyped up about who they think should win the election. Some people are even making it a bigger deal than it should be by causing violence. Even the kids in school get in fights over this topic. The young people think they know what they’re talking about, when most don’t. I will say some people do know what they’re saying. Most of the kids are just going by what they’re parents say, not there own opinion. And even sometimes they get there information mixed up. Kids are coming on the buses starting arguments and fights over who they think should win. I defiantly do not think this is necessary. Yes, I think everyone should have a right to pick who they like, but that doesn’t mean they should “beat up” someone who doesn’t agree with them. It just causes more problems then we need. You need to be mature enough to understand that not everyone is going to agree on what you say. After all, we are trying to focus on who we think is right. This is a big decision. You need to know what the candidate is planning to do to our country for the next four years. So, by causing violence and more problems it’s not letting people think what they want. People! Violence is never the answer, especially for election opinions!
Today at lunch I did a survey to see which lunch line students liked best. I asked 60 students. The results are in:
Extreme Line: 20 Side Lines: 11 Sub Line: 8 Pizza Line: 21
I also surveyed 20 students on how many days a week they pack their lunch and here is the results:
5 days: 7 3-4 days: 7 1-2 days: 6
So as you see, a lot of kids like the pizza line and almost as many enjoy the extreme line. As we know, the pizza line serves pizza and the extreme line serves a small dish like chicken nuggets or cheese stuffed pizza crusts with some form of potato or fry, usually. Fries and pizza are not healthy foods. The problem with that not being healthy is that a lot of kids like that line and if they eat it every day they will become obese. More and more of America’s teens and pre-teens are becoming obese and being diagnosed with diabetes at an early age. Kids that are diagnosed with diabetes are forced to take shots with insulin in them every day. So if our school continues to serve pizza and fries every day there could become serious problems.
In a recent interview with a former cafeteria worker we asked some groundbreaking questions. Our first question to the lunch worker was, have you ever burned yourself while working in the caf? She replied with a yes. We then asked her, do you have to pay or make your own lunch? She said no, it's free, and we make our own lunch because it is part of the job .The third question we asked was, do hair nets bother you? She gave us quite an explanation, "When I worked at Brandywine Springs, we did not wear hair nets, but baseball caps, because I have very short hair. When I worked in the Red Clay bake shop, yes, I had to wear one. It was bothersome, but you could get special made ones, that were less noticable. And the last question we asked the former lunch worker was, did you enjoy your job? And her answer was, "Yeah it was fun, hard work. You had to be fast, and do a lot of heavy lifting.

Okay guys, thanks for the articals so far. I'll edit them tonight. Is there any chance that you can do them all at once?

**Kim's article. Really good.

Overall, great job!
The main conservative base that is the core constituency of the Republican Party, who have been somewhat dubious of McCain.
ok, i think that all the articles r posted. ill let ya know if anyone else writes anything else, but for now thats it.

GREAT JOB!

Have you been watching the Beijing Olympics?

Monday Night!
By: Brent Hall
Possibly the game of the century.

The Rookie Who Had a Chance
By: Madison Hill
You knew him as number 5 in a blue and yellow jersey.

I feel that this new rule is absolutely ridiculous, and many other students agree with me.
The teachers and staff think that this is a good thing because they think that if the students sit with who they want to, that it will create much more noise and if they have to sit where they are assigned, they may not always be with the people who they easily get along with. But the truth is, if some people don’t sit with their friends and get assigned a table whom everyone does not like each other or gets along; god knows that's not going to end up well. That by itself will make much, much more noise. So their plan would be ruined in that case. Yes, you can choose to sit wherever you want at that table which means you don't have to sit with the person/persons you do not like. But, if the whole table is people that you don't get along with, what are you going to do? This may cause a fight, or bickering and could probably get pretty loud if they were mad enough at each other.
Students are NOT happy with this new seating arrangement, I, being one of them.
To rebel the new seating!" That is the text message that is going around.

Jess Fogal’s Article
We're almost out of fuel! Global Warming isn’t THAT bad! Battery powered cars are the way to go! That is what the government is telling us. Did you know we really aren’t running out of fuel at all? Actually we're only running out of CHEAP fuel. Coal right now is 10 times cheaper than gasoline today. From the point of view of physics everything makes a lot more sense. Conserving fuel and things like that will not only keep costs down, but it will also make less pollution which will start stopping global warming.

I think that would be fairer because, here at Cab, the sports don’t start until 8th grade and that’s not fair because the kids in 6th and 7th come to a real middle and high school to be treated like real middle and high schoolers.

At about 3 in the afternoon on August 27th, a 17 year old girl, whose name is withheld, was on her way to a Delaware high school.

Palin Picked as McCain's Running Mate and Daughter is Pregnant!

Pictures without a Camera
“It’s not natural.”
Stephen does have signs of autism; eating the exact same lunch every single day is not really normal but, who cares?

INJURIES
Last but not least Gus Frerotte got two stiches on his non throwing hand and simply said himself "I think one of those hard-plastic things cut open a blood vessel in my hand,"
But he's back to his normal self once again saying himself "its good, its fine" and throwing 19 passes for 222 yards. Thats whats up in the sports world

But I think everyone has at least done it once."
Kiki's video is one of several dozen on the popular internet site, YouTube, that show detailed ways to cheat on tests.
It would be very awkward."
Elizabeth Losh, writing director of the human core course at University of California, Irvine, knows the cheating videos well. As a teacher of digital rhetoric, she analyzes how media affects society. The YouTube videos are really a way for people to boast, she said.
"It's a whole kind of tradition on YouTube -- how do you subvert something, how do you break into something," she said. "In some ways, I'm not surprised that the genre has evolved."
Some of the modern cheating techniques are so time-consuming that students would be better off simply studying, Losh said.

Cars could soon come with parental controls that limit what younger drivers can do with a car.

ARSENIC IN WATER MAY CAUSE DIABETES
Recent studys show that levels of arsenic have been found in water, and contain type two diabetes.

This book is very well written and tells Koly’s story well. In her unbelievable story, she makes it through her life.

NIK EASTBURN- RED CLAY STUDENTS DEPRIVED OF BUSES

Is School Lunch Really Healthy?
Today at lunch I did a survey to see which lunch line students liked best. I asked 60 students. The results are in:
Extreme Line: 20
Side Lines: 11
Sub Line: 8
Pizza Line: 21
I also surveyed 20 students on how many days a week they pack their lunch and here is the results:
5 days: 7
3-4 days: 7
1-2 days: 6
