When kids are little, they all shoot high for their future career. They say, “When I grow up, I want to be an astronaut firefighter and change the world!” It’s the ongoing fad of kindergarteners. But, most kids don’t end up doing those jobs. They go on to be accountants, or taxi-drivers, or even stay-at-home moms. Still, they change the world anyway, in some shape or form. Because those same kids are a powerful force or developers. By watching TV alone, they get new ideas and then they work to make those ideas reality. That is how new technology comes around… just kids saying, “When I grow up, I want to change the world.”
Almost daily, there are theories published about what is to come, about what lay ahead of us. There are predictions about transportation, – bubbles and flying cars – about clothes, – tin foil – and so much more. Sure, half of these are logical predictions factoring in the progress of the past. But, if you think about it, the other half is fed by Hollywood. Our picture of the future is very clear: robots, flying cars, tin foil, metal, and things appearing out of thin air. It’s always been the same; never changing, even as time passed by and so many futures were gone. Our predictions should be getting more complex and our visions should change as time goes by, right? They don’t, though.Hollywood, even as the future is destined to change, keeps refueling that image we all have. Hollywood movies from the 1940’s have portrayed tin foil, too. Except their future was the new millennium… year 2000. Now that it has gone, do we really have a world like the Jetsons? Have we come close? The Jetsons had roving sidewalks and teleports that magically gave you food. When the show came out, everything all looked so new, shiny, and impossible. It was like we could never have that. While we may not be ‘shiny’, we have developed devices close to the complexity of the times of the Jetsons. What about the moving walkways in airports? Are those any different from the 1960’s hit TV show? And we may not have fancy teleportation/food makers, but I think that microwaves come pretty close. All these comparisons really make you wonder if our predictions haven’t already come true….In Back to the Future Part II, one of the most popular items was the car with doors that opened up. You may not see many of those cars on the road now, but believe it or not, they have already had their hay-day. The 1981 DeLorean DMC-12, was actually made before the movie. Our parents know that, but not many middle school students do. Also, in this movie, Doc and Marty travel to 2015, and the world already looks like a tinfoil bomb has gone off. Will we have all of that technology in 6 years? With all of the space movies combined, like Star Trek, Star Wars, and Lost in Space, there are a lot of ‘future’ items. In Star Trek, which took place in 2151, they had computers and communicators before we had cell phones or desktops. But, in a different sense, we are ahead of their predictions. About 110 years ahead. However, we have yet to create a space ship that can travel that far away from Earth. The same goes for Star Wars. Also, I’m pretty sure that deadly beams of light (a.k.a. light sabers) haven’t been invented yet.So, if you really think about all of the past future guesses, you’ll ask yourself: Are we there yet? Yes, Hollywood has made up a lot of it, but that has helped us to grow and accomplish (most of the time) so many new things. It doesn’t even take a calculator or dictionary to predict the future. It just takes kids with a dream, just kids that say “When I grow up, I’m going to make a lightsabor just like that!”. Kids are our future, the people who make the future happen. We are the ones making the new clothes, and the ones developing new modes of transportation. It’s always been that way. Maybe you can tell your parents that, and ask if you can stay home from school one day to watch past future movies. After all, it could help you develop the upcoming world and exceed the expectations of your peers and elders., right?

*Spoiler Alert!*
In this third book of the saga, Edward is back and Bella is happy. But she wants to see Jacob again. Since vampires and werewolves are mortal enemies, Edward doesn’t really want her over with Jacob and his pack, they might be dangerous. Finally, Bella convinces Edward that the pack has never hurt her and gets to visit every once in a while. Meanwhile, in Seattle, there have been many murders going on and the killer just won’t stop.
Alice, Edwards’s sister, has been having visions of seeing Victoria, the vampire who wants Bella dead. After following several clues, Bella and Edward find out that Victoria is responsible for all the killings in Seattle and she has a whole army of young vampires. And they are out to kill, Bella precisely. Victoria was very close friends with James, who Edward killed in the first book and now is out to kill Bella as revenge.
Together, out of jealousy, Jacob and Edward have to fight together to protect Bella and save her from the huge army of vampires. But can they finish and kill Victoria before it’s too late?

Bella and Edward are now a couple and very happy. In this second novel, many events happen. Bella is more in love with Edward then ever, but apparently, Edward thinks Bella is too good for him. Sadly, the Cullen’s then leave Forks, Washington. Bella is beside herself, thinking Edward doesn’t love her any more. After Edward leaves, Bella’s life is nothing.
After four months of no Edward, Bella is just a lifeless blob. Then, a friend of Charlie’s, Billy, and his son Jacob, come over. Bella finds a friend in Jacob and they start to spend a lot of time together. They do homework after school and secretly ride motorcycles behind Charlie’s back. But when Bella sees some boy’s cliff diving, she wants to try.
Jacob was going to take her cliff diving, but Bella jumps before he has the chance to without him there. Luckily, he comes to save her after she jumps. Meanwhile, Alice Cullen, Edwards’s sister, sees Bella jump in one of her visions. Rosalie, another sister, isn’t a big fan of Bella so she tells Edward that Bella has killed herself.
In this second book of the saga, for me and a lot of others, I think it was a hard read. But you have to read this book to get to the next book, Eclipse.
Reilly, this is Greta's second article. I just edited it.

Isabella "Bella" Swan is just a normal teenager girl who is living with her dad, Charlie in Forks, Washington. She just moved there from Phoenix where she was living with her mother. On her first day in rainy Forks, Washington, she takes her new truck to her new high school. She meets one girl, Jessica, and a boy, Mike, that really seems to like her. She is sitting with them at lunch when Bella glances across the cafeteria and sees the Cullen’s. They are the most beautiful people in the whole school. Jessica explains that they’re Emmett, Jasper, Edward, Alice, and Rosalie Cullen. They were all adopted by the town doctor, Dr. Cullen and his wife, Esme. When Edward catches Bella’s eye at lunch, she automatically knows she’s in love.
But is seems Edward doesn’t feel the same way. In science, Edward sits next to her, but on the very edge of the seat. Bella is crushed and wonders why he doesn’t like her. The truth is that Edward is just trying to hide his enemy from her, himself. But Edward just can’t resist.
It this romance novel, Bella Swan truly meets Edward Cullen and his family secret. During this novel, Edward has to fight his biggest fear to save his true love, himself. I loved this first book! It kept my turning pages for hours.

Calling all Nintendo DS owners of the world…uh…Nintendo DS owners of Cab Calloway! Are you constantly searching the video game section, looking for another game to obsess over? In that case, you should try Drawn to Life, one of the most unique DS games. Most people buy a Nintendo DS so they can use the awesome touch screen and stylus.
The main inhabitants of a town (which you get to name) are called Raposa. Raposa are human-like creatures with super fuzzy ears, and a Creator who supposedly created everything in the Raposa’s world. Who is this Creator guy? You! The main reason for the game’s awesomeness is the fact that you get to draw and name a hero to use throughout the game as a fighting character. As you make your way through the creative storyline of the game, you get to draw and color more things. This includes a vine, a statue, an ice cube, a radio, a sword, a nut gun, wings, a rocket, and a whalecopter! You don’t even have to be a good artist. Plus, they all actually move and function! My favorite is the whalecopter, of course.
Drawn to Life involves a very far-out but cool plot. The Creator draws a hero to re-populate the town. (The Raposa who lived there left because Wilfre, who is a crazy traitor, ripped up the Book of Life which has all of the Creator’s drawings. Bad things started to happen and these ugly Shadow creatures appeared.) While trying to find the townspeople, you also defeat Shadow creatures, find missing pages from the Book of Life, fight bosses, and clean areas contaminated with shadow goo. Some of the “townspeople” turn out to not be townspeople. Among the newcomers are a vampire Raposa, a freaky Raposa called Crazy Barks, and a human! The human’s name is Mike, and he has no idea where is. The Raposa take him to their doctor to be examined.
Overall, I think Drawn to Life is one of the best DS games ever made. They also made Drawn to Life: Spongebob, but I doubt it’s better than the original. Make sure to try out the game! I hope you guys like it as much as I do. Remember: Drawing = Victory!
